San Francisco Real Estate     The discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill, northeast of here, marked the beginning of the California Gold Rush of 1849, transformed our little town from a small settlement into a thriving city almost overnight, and gave the Golden Gate Bridge and the 49ers their names. It is located at the northern tip of the peninsula. Spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, the Marin Headlands, SF Bay and the East Bay hills can all be found in this breathtaking city. The community's own symphony, ballet and opera are ranked among the finest performing arts groups in the world.
