Pacifica
Real Estate
With green hills to the east, the ocean to the west and a 5-minute drive
to San Francisco, our city offers both a peaceful, natural environment
and proximity to west bay cities. This bedroom community of approximately
40,000 people is the first of the towns on the ocean on Highway 1 south
of San Francisco. It has a reputation for collecting all of the coastal
fog for itself, and for this it is celebrated by the town residents in
the spirit of good fun. However, the reputation is somewhat undeserved.
In fact, the city often shares the same mild, sunny, breezy weather as
western Daly City and the Sunset district of San Francisco. Its residents
love the fresh ocean air, beautiful ocean views and quiet, family-friendly
neighborhoods.
The community offers a variety of activities including hiking, surfing and fishing. Linda Mar Beach at the southern end of town, with its picturesque view of Pedro Point is a wonderful place to visit any time of year. The Esplanade, beach access at the northern end of town, offers a picnic area and a fishing pier that is well known in the area. The yearly Fog Festival in September, a venue for local craftspeople, artists, musicians and vendors, draws visitors from all over the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. The city offers a variety of classes and activities, primarily through its Parks, Beaches and Recreation Department. The city has its own theatre group, the Spendrift Players, which stages several productions each season. Sanchez Art Center hosts a music series and an art gallery. Some cafes in town have regular live jazz or folk music. The city has its share of California history. Highway 1 through town used to be part of the route of the Ocean Shore Railroad, which transported San Franciscans and tourists down the coast from about 1907 to 1920. Tobin Station at Pedro Point still stands. Another station is now a real estate office, and a third was converted to a restaurant, the Vallemar Station Grill. The Sanchez Adobe, a building on what was once the site of an indian village, is now the oldest building in San Mateo County and an example of Monterey architecture. Montara Ridge is documented to be the place where the Spanish explorer Don Gaspar de Portola and his party discovered San Francisco Bay in the fall of 1769. If you are looking for a home in the Bay Area we would be happy to show you properties in this peaceful town on the coast. Listing agents have written
contracts with sellers promising to get the highest possible price for
homes. Why on earth would someone call listing agents for information
about homes?
