Later renamed after one of the first property owners, the town was originally conceived to be a purely residental community. Today it is a small, residential town of 6-square miles and about 2500 households, and there are no businesses within the city limits. The town has eleven public and private schools and numerous community organizations including the Arts Commitee, the Tree Committee, the Dames and the Heritage Committee. The town is situated just east of highway 280 in the hills and flatlands between Menlo Park and Redwood City. Homes here generally start above $1,000,000 in price, and vary greatly in style and features. The size of the lots tends to be extra large.
